West Allis will have a primary focus this season
Aldermanic district has five candidates for two seats
West Allis - A primary election will be held in the race for West Allis District 2 alderman in which the two incumbents will be challenged by three opponents.
All the other West Allis aldermen also face challengers, but primaries will not be needed. At the same time, Mayor Dan Devine will face no opposition as he runs for a second four-year term April 3 and only the three incumbents on the West Allis-West Milwaukee School Board will run in the spring election.
But in the hot Feb. 21 primary in District 2, incumbents Kurt Kopplin, 1625 S. 77th St., and Martin Weigel, 7415 W. Greenfield Ave., will face challengers Scott Bunker, 1709 S. 80th St.; Cathleen Probst, 1959 S. 79th St.; and Ryan Wargolet, 1647 S. 81st St.
In the April 3 general election, candidates in Aldermanic District 1 will be incumbents Michael Czaplewski, 900 S. 57th St., and Vincent Vitale, 5758 W. Kinnickinnic River Parkway, and challengers Mark Nisenbaum, 1652 S. 69th St., and David Race, 1610 S. 59th St.
District 3 candidates are incumbents Gary Barczak, 721 S. 110th St., and Richard Narlock, 1341 S. 122nd St., and challengers Jon Keckeisen, 1514 S. 97th St., and Michael May, 837 S. 113th St.
District 4 candidates are incumbents Thomas Lajsic, 2755 S. 74th St., and Daniel Roadt, 2840 S. Stratton Drive, and challenger Linda Dobrowski, a former alderwoman, 2474 S. 99th St.
District 5 candidates are incumbents Rosalie Reinke, 2821 S. 114th St., and James Sengstock, 11244 W. National Ave., and challengers Richard Sujecki, 12247 W. Verona Court, and Roy Beaudry, 2082 S. 104th St.
City attorney Scott Post will run unopposed.
School Board non-opposition
The three incumbents running unchallenged for re-election to the West Allis-West Milwaukee School Board are Patricia Kerhin, 8711 W. Arthur Place; Sue Sujecki, 12247 W. Verona Court, whose husband is running for alderman; and Darlene Ziemendorf, 836 S. 91st St.
The candidate filing deadline for municipal and School Board seats was 5 p.m. Tuesday.
